10 Useful Resources for Owner-Operators

There’s a heck of a lot of information out there for owner-operators.

But, as great as Google is, sometimes it can be hard to find the good stuff.

So we created this list with some of the best resources out there. Whether you’re new to the owner-operator game or a seasoned pro, these are worth taking a look at.

 

1. Rate Per Mile Masters Facebook Group

If you have a question and can’t find a good answer, this is the place to go.

2. OOIDA and This List of Education Tools

OOIDA membership has a ton of benefits for you and your business, including discounts on insurance and other services, rebates and special offers. No matter what you’re looking to learn about or save money on, they can likely point you in the right direction.

3. Overdrive Magazine and the Partners in Business Manual

Overdrive regularly puts out helpful articles and industry news tailored to owner-operators. And their Partners in Business Manual is something every owner-operator should read. It’s absolutely packed with the information you need to run a more profitable business.

4. Kenny Long’s Podcast Trucking With Authority

Kenny’s podcast has answers to your small business questions. Be sure to follow him on Facebook, too.

 

5. The AAOO

Becoming a member of the American Association for Owner Operators has a ton of benefits, including discounts on fuel, insurance, ELDs, and more. Plus, they’ve got some helpful stuff, like this great list of trucking podcasts.

 

6. Landline Magazine and Tandem Thoughts

Landline is a great source of trucking news and business info for owner-operators. And their Tandem Thoughts blog is filled with interesting insights and pretty funny commentary.

7. Kevin Rutherford and Trucking Business and Beyond

Kevin Rutherford is a household name in the trucking industry because he’s been giving owner-operators sound business advice for years. You can hear him live on XM Radio every weekday from 11am to 2pm, or check out his website Let’s Truck.

8. Smart Trucking

Smart-Trucking.com has a ton of real world advice for every aspiring owner-operator. You can check out their 10 tips for success if you’re just starting out, or follow them on Youtube, where Dave always has something hilarious to say.

9. DAT

The DAT has been the go-to watering hole for owner-operators for quite some time. But it’s more than just a load board. They also provide a lot of useful info for owner-operators, including this great list of resources.

10. The LoadPal App, Newsletter and Blog

Okay, we may not be fully deserving of a spot on this list just yet.

But we know the LoadPal app is a resource for every owner-operator out there today. It can help you create and send invoices, manage trip documents, and get paid faster.
